Cowra Council regularly receives requests for donations from local organisations, individuals, and entities. Council places a high-value on the various cultural, community and sporting initiatives, and festivals in the Shire and the contribution made by not-for-profit organisations to our community.
Council regularly assists these organisations financially by committing funding in the annual budget for this purpose. Council offers these donations and assistance under Sections 356 and 377 of the Local Government Act 1993.
Donations can be in the form of cash, goods, services, and reduced or waived Council rates and charges. Council's policy applies to all formal requests for donations to Council, as either requests for cash or "in-kind" support from organisations and individuals. Policy "1.43 Donations" sets-out the procedures for an application to eligible for a recommendation to Council. Each request must then be approved by a Council resolution.
Council's Corporate Services department assess all donation applications to ensure that they comply with the eligibility criteria for referral to full Council. However, applicants not meeting the eligibility criteria will not be referred to Council with all applicants advised in writing of their application.
All applicants are required to complete the written application form "Application for Financial Assistance/Donation" attached below:
