Have Your Say on Cowra Shire’s Future!
Cowra Shire Mayor Cr Paul Smith is inviting everyone in the Cowra Shire to get involved and help shape the future of our region. A range of important draft plans that will guide Council’s work over the next few years and beyond are now open for community feedback.
The following draft documents are on public exhibition:
• Draft Community Strategic Plan – Cowra 2036
• Draft Delivery Program 2025–2026 to 2028–2029 and Operational Plan 2025–2026
• Draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2025–2026 to 2034–2035
• Draft Revenue Policy 2025–2026
• Draft Workforce Management Strategy 2025–2029
“These documents are basically the roadmap for where Cowra is heading,” said Mayor Smith. “They reflect not just what we want to achieve, but how we’ll make it happen. We’ve put in a lot of work but now it’s your turn to have a say.”
The Community Strategic Plan sets out a refreshed long-term vision for Cowra, focused around eight key themes: Health and Wellbeing, Innovation and Education, Liveability and Housing, Community Leadership and Engagement, Business and Industry, Transport and Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability and Stewardship and Reconciliation and Inclusion.
Supporting this, the Delivery Program and Operational Plan breaks down the steps Council plans to take over the next four years including what’s on the agenda for 2025–2026.
“We’re talking about everything from major infrastructure projects and improving local services, to water and sewer planning, and keeping Cowra a great place to live,” said Mayor Smith. “And importantly, these are realistic plans based on what we can fund and where we’ll need support.”

The Long-Term Financial Plan and Revenue Policy sets out how Council intends to manage its money wisely, while the Workforce Strategy ensures we’ve got the people power to deliver it all.
“These plans will shape Cowra’s future growth, and we want them to reflect what you care about,” said Mayor Smith. “Whether you’re a resident, a local business, or part of a community group your voice matters.”
You can view the draft documents at Council’s Customer Service Centre, Cowra Library, or n the Council website. Copies will be mailed to village resident groups. They’ll be on display for at least 28 days.
Submissions close at 4pm on 13th of June and all feedback received by that time will be considered before final adoption of the plans in June.
