Pre-loved is pocket and planet friendly
Australians are some of the biggest consumers of stuff in the world, using resources four times faster than the planet can replace them. Buying or selling items secondhand is one simple way we can all make a difference and help build a more circular economy. By giving items a second life, we keep things in use for longer, use fewer resources and create less waste, and the best part? You still get the things you need and love - often for a fraction of the price.
Last year alone, Garage Sale Trail kept 418 tonnes of stuff in use, saving:
- 2,540 tonnes of CO2-e - the same as taking 1,050 cars off the road.
- 96 mega litres of water - enough to fill 38 swimming pools.
- 1,870 hectares of land - equal to 2,610 soccer pitches.
