Mayor Invites Community to Have Their Say on Draft Community Engagemen
Published on 30 April 2025
Cowra Shire Council is inviting all residents to review and provide feedback on its draft Community Engagement Strategy 2025, now available for public exhibition.
Mayor Paul Smith said the draft strategy reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to fostering a more inclusive, transparent, and collaborative relationship with the community.
“This strategy outlines how Council will engage with the Cowra community in shaping decisions that impact their lives,” Mayor Smith said. “It’s built on principles of equity, accessibility, and active participation and now we want to hear from you.”
The draft Community Engagement Strategy provides a clear and practical framework for how Council connects with residents, community groups, businesses, and other stakeholders. It outlines a diverse range of engagement methods from public forums and advisory committees to digital platforms and local events.
Mayor Smith highlighted the critical role of community input in refining the document.
“We want the final strategy to reflect the diverse needs and expectations of everyone across our Shire, whether you live in town, on a farm, or in one of our villages. Your feedback is essential to shaping how Council communicates and collaborates with the community, so please tell us how you would like us to communicate with you.”
The draft strategy is available for review on Council’s website under ‘Public exhibition Council documents and policies’ and in hard copy at the Cowra Council customer service centre.
Community members are encouraged to submit feedback via email to council@cowra.nsw.go.au or post to Private Bag 342, 116 Kendal Street Cowra NSW 2794 by 4pm, Monday 2 June 2025.
