Public Exhibition of Draft Cowra Shire Council Development Control Plan 2026
The Draft Cowra Shire Council Development Control Plan 2026 (Draft DCP) has now been placed on public exhibition, with Council inviting public comment until 4.00pm on Friday 6 March 2026.
Mayor Cr Paul Smith said the Draft DCP had been prepared following a comprehensive review of the existing Cowra Council Development Control Plan 2021.
“The Draft DCP has been prepared following a comprehensive review of the existing Cowra Council DCP 2021 and takes account of best-practice planning controls used by other local government authorities throughout New South Wales,” Cr Smith said.
“The Draft DCP applies to all land in the Cowra Shire and provides guidance for anyone preparing a Development Application for most types of development that are permissible under the Cowra Local Environmental Plan 2012,” he said.
Cr Smith encouraged residents, landowners, developers and other stakeholders to review the document and provide feedback during the exhibition period.
“I would encourage all residents to take the time to review the Draft DCP and provide Council with feedback. This is an important opportunity for the community to make suggestions and help shape future development across the Shire,” Cr Smith said.
“Following the public exhibition, Council will carefully review all submissions received and make any necessary changes or amendments to the Draft DCP before it is formally considered for adoption,” Cr Smith continued.

• Part G – Large Lot Development

• Part J – Cowra Regional Airport
• Part K – Land-use Buffers
• Part L – Advertising & Signage
• Part M – Parking, Access & Mobility
• Part N – Landscaping
• Part O – Environmental Hazard Management
• Part P – CPTED Principles
