WASTE 2 ART COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS
The Year to Shrink your Footprint
Cowra Council is proud to support the 2026 Waste 2 Art community exhibition and competition, a creative program that celebrates resourcefulness, sustainability, and local talent.
This year’s project begins with hands-on community workshops, followed by a local exhibition and competition. Selected local artworks will then go on to represent our region at the Regional Showcase in Broken Hill in August 2026.
The Cowra Community Workshop will be held on 18 March at the Cowra MRF, starting at 9.30am. The day includes a guided tour of the MRF, creative activities, and lunch.
All residents of the Cowra Shire are warmly invited to take part. Renowned artist Shani Nottingham will lead the workshop, helping participants transform everyday waste materials into imaginative artworks. Individuals, families, school groups, and community organisations are all welcome.
The 2026 theme focuses on shrinking your waste footprint, with artworks to be created small enough to fit inside a shoe or boot box for transport. The workshop will offer practical tips on working at a small scale and finding creative uses for items that can’t be recycled but can be repurposed into art.
Participation in the workshop is free for Cowra Region residents, and entry to the local Waste 2 Art Exhibition and Competition is also free.
To book your place, contact Cowra MRF on 6340 2140 or use the Ask Anthony feature on the MRF App. Places are limited, so early bookings are encouraged.
